ExtraDateNightBot

Extra Date Night suggests real things couples can do together: a venue's trivia night, a gallery opening, a seasonal festival. To keep those suggestions accurate, ExtraDateNightBot reads the public pages where venues publish their events and hours, checks that the details we show are still on the page, and links people back to the venue.

How it behaves

• It identifies itself as ExtraDateNightBot/1.0 with a link to this page, and never as a browser.
• It obeys robots.txt (RFC 9309), including Allow, wildcards and rules addressed to ExtraDateNightBot, and checks again after every redirect.
• It waits at least 1 second between requests to one site, longer if your Crawl-delay asks for it. A Crawl-delay above 60 seconds is read as “please don't”, and we don't.
• If your robots.txt can't be reached (a server error or a timeout), it fetches nothing and tries again later.
• It only reads public pages. It never signs in, submits forms, or sends a borrowed Referer to get past hotlink protection.

Blocking it

Add this to your site's robots.txt:

User-agent: ExtraDateNightBot
Disallow: /

We re-read robots.txt at least once a day, so changes take effect within 24 hours.
